Unity and separation

Yesterday, I was at an event hosted by the British Science Festival. It was called Poetry in Science and was really interesting because it mixed the arts with science. Anyway, the professor giving the talk read a poem about how at the moment we are separated by borders, religion, colour etc. It continued to say that one day, we would all become united when the ‘world ends’ as he said.

Now, this is of course, not something that I agree with. Scientists claim that the world will end when the sun engulfs it. No, the world will be destroyed when God judges it. But he said that everyone would be united with no borders. But it’s quite the opposite. You see, at the moment, all those belonging to Christ are united as one. And we will be that for eternity. But those who reject Him will not be together. In hell, it is complete separation from God. So instead of being united, as this poet said, those who reject God will be even more separated than they are today. ‘These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power‘ 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9.
