I think I might need to change the day that I say I upload this…seems to be more midweek rather than Sunday!
So today we’re going to look at the word ‘desire’. Desire seems to me much more than just a want; it seems so much more heartfelt than that. Like someone’s true love being their ‘one desire’. I want to focus on God’s desire…His desire to have a relationship with us.
God created man and man was made perfect in His image. I’m sure that if you made something so wonderful and perfect that you’d love it and want to cherish it. Of course, that’s nothing to the scale of God’s creation. But He desired a relationship with those that He had created, but sin cut it off. God’s desire was so great that He sent His only Son into the world to save us from our sins and from destruction. That’s true love! If we are saved, we also should desire a relationship with Him. To walk with Him, talk with Him, and involve Him in every aspect of our lives. We can also remember that ‘we love Him because He first loved us’ 1 John 4:19. It’s true…He loved us so much that He sent His only Son, because He desired a relationship with us, His creation. Where would we be without His desire and love? It reminds me of a song I heard. The lyrics went ‘where would we be without Your love, we’d still be lost in darkness.’ When something goes horribly wrong that I’m making, I tend to chuck it out and start again. But God didn’t do that. He didn’t leave us or turn His back on us; He found a way and He saved us. That was because of His desire to have a relationship with us.
