Bible ABC’s- Fellowship

Sorry I missed last week’s post…I was away. This week we’re going to look at fellowship. That’s a word you don’t really hear outside of a church, but fellowship was actually a more common word in the late 19th Century. The dictionary definition is ‘friendly association, especially with people who share one’s interests’. So time together. You have ‘fellowship’ with your friends each time you meet with them for a coffee, or with your family when you sit down to eat a meal together.

Within the Church, it’s important to have fellowship with each other. Not just in the church, but outside of it. Young people’s groups, trips together, there’s all kinds of things we can do. Usually, this is when you really get to know people, and you can share in each others issues and worries and general life. It allows us to support and pray for each other, as it should be (Ecclesiasties 4:9-12) We are a family, united in Christ. It allows for encouragement (like in Romans 1:11-12) In that same verse, we can see that fellowship has been important in every Christian’s life for centuries. (See, the Bible is still relevant today!)

So is fellowship something that maybe we need to engage more with? Not just on a Sunday morning (though this is of course important). But also at other times of the week. Try to think of some ways that you can be with Christians so that you can enjoy that encouragement we can all give each other.
