‘And let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith’ Hebrews 12:1-2.
I remember this being the focus of our camp studies during the 2012 Olympics. It was a really fun year and people were enjoying watching the sports, competitions, and ceremonies. It was really good to be able to focus on the idea of ‘looking unto Jesus’. When somebody runs a race, they don’t look around at the other competitors. That would have an effect on their speed and concentration. No, they stay looking at the object; the finishing line. That is the same in our lives. We have to stay focused on the Lord, keeping our eyes on Him, not looking around at all the things that the world has to offer.
You remember in the Bible when Peter walked to the Lord on the water? Remember when he started sinking? It was when He started looking around at all the waves and stormy sea (read the whole account in Matthew 14:22-33).
Keep your eyes on the goal!
